Custom Modular Rugs for a Residential Client

We worked directly with a residential client to design, create and install a customised set of the Emily Forgot Construct collection modular rugs based on their existing interior scheme.

WHITE GLOVE INSTALL

During this process we mocked up the rugs in a digitally rendered room-set, we visited the client to measure the space to ensure the perfect fit and colour matched poms to furnishings like the lime green sofa. We even went into the detail of editing the original design so that a section of the rug would curve alongside the spiralling staircase.

When the client was happy with the digital mock-ups, the designs and colour codes were then sent to our manufacturer in India who tufted the rugs, involving hand finished techniques such as the alternating pile heights. It was 12 weeks from the date of sign off that we returned to the clients home ready to white glove install the hand-crafted rugs.

I WAS SLIGHTLY APPREHENSIVE THAT I’D GONE A BIT TOO CRAZY WITH SUCH BRIGHT COLOURS & AWAITED DELIVERY WITH SLIGHT TREPIDATION BUT I REALLY COULDN’T BE HAPPIER.

The handiness of the modular element of these rugs really came into play during this install, making it much easier to transport the rugs into an apartment with access via a small lift.

We then moved the furniture, laid out the underlay and trimmed it to the shapes of the rugs on-site. We then moved the existing furniture back to what was outlined on the plans and removed all the packaging.

For the client, it was like the rugs had magically appeared, stress-free and efficiently.

THE RUG

This three-part modular set designed by Emily Forgot who has combined illustration, art, graphic design and her love for all things interiors to create a bold underlay which can cleverly fit in most spaces.

The four different pile heights and the block colours within the rugs, work together to create Emily Forgot’s signature, graphical shapes. The interchangeable forms introduce a new technical element to the overall FLOOR_STORY edit resulting in a unique and creative concept, not usually seen in rug design.

‘As part of my design and art practice I create wooden relief assemblages that play with form and colour and often have a strong graphic and architectural feel’.
