DOOR TO DOOR DELIVERY

WITH A DESIGN BRIEF BASED ON ARCHETYPES, TOLA OJUOLAPE SET OUT TWO DISTINCTIVE PERSONAL PROFILES TO REALLY GET TO GRIPS ON WHO MIGHT INHABIT THE SPACE.

The common thread between the two personality types is an overarching interest in the arts as well as travel and culture. Planning a luxury show home for the rental market presents the common hurdle of adding personality without changing the infrastructure of the space. The answer is in the furnishings, where beautiful materials and objects, including the Casa rug designed by Kangan Arora, create an immediate sense of identity.

We always love seeing creative ways that a rug can bring brilliant design to life as well as added functionality to a space. Tola Ojuolape has totally nailed this, by using the shaped monochrome rug as a headboard, that not only centres the bedroom, but also helps with acoustics and sound absorption. The use of the 100% wool rug has so many great benefits, making it the gift that keeps on giving. Wool is a natural fibre which can positively influence insulation, temperature control and regulating sound. The shaped design creates large-scale artwork, a contemporary piece that instantly adds personality and draws the eye to something spectacular.

The design itself is part of Kangan Arora’s Cosmic Check, a collection of irregular shapes and distorted checkerboard patterns drawn from Indian cosmic arts and board games. The designs are full of movement and motion as they allude to both the circular rhythms of chanted mantras and the eye-catching graphics of modernist Op art.

WHY RUGS MAKE IDEAL HEADBOARDS

One of the most popular applications of rugs as wall hangings is using them as headboards. This is particularly useful in bedrooms where painting the walls isn't an option like in rented accommodation. Or if you’re wanting to add some interest without the commitment of an entirely new paint colour or a traditional upholstered headboard. There’s a few interior benefits to using rugs in this way:

Space Maximisation

A rug headboard can make a small bedroom appear larger by drawing the eye upward, creating an illusion of height and space.

Easy Installation and Removal

Unlike traditional headboards, rugs are lightweight and easy to hang. This makes them an ideal choice for renters who may need to frequently move or change their decor.

Customisable and Unique

With custom and bespoke options, you can really go as neutral or maximalist as you want. You can also easily swap out different rugs to match seasonal decor or personal style changes, making your bedroom a unique reflection of your taste.

Acoustic & Insulation

A woollen rug, particularly a tufted woollen rug, will help with the acoustics of a room as well as dampen the noise coming in from other spaces like noisy neighbours - especially useful when placed above your head when you sleep. The wool content will also help to insulate the room.
